Amazon Day

Water is life. And in Brazil, the #truthaboutdrought is that without the Amazon, dry conditions will continue to get worse, and drought and fires with it, disrupting the availability of clean water, food security and livelihoods. Yet rapid deforestation––driven primarily by clearing for cattle ranching and cattle feed––continues to create a drier climate, in addition to threatening Indigenous cultures, livelihoods and lives.

This video in honor of #AmazonDay earlier this month, is a reminder that Amazonia and other biodiverse wildlands play a vital role in nature-based solutions to the climate crisis.
